Hill Country Pools has been proudly serving the Austin area since 1972. What began with one van and two small trucks on Balcones Drive has grown into one of Central Texas’s most trusted names in pool care. Founded by Surrenden Hill Angly, a lifelong Austin resident, the company built its reputation on quality service, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to doing things the right way.
Over the course of more than 40 years, Surrenden expanded Hill Country Pools from a small operation into a thriving business of 13 dedicated team members and a recognizable fleet of red service trucks. Her motto was simple:
“Hill Country Pools is on fire to serve you, our valued customers.”
The Next Generation
In the early 1980s, the company moved its store front to Far West Blvd., where Hill Country Pools continues to operate today with an even larger fleet proudly serving the Austin community.
In 2015, Surrenden’s grandson, Forest Hill James, joined the company fulltime after attending the University of Texas at Austin. A fourth-generation Austin native, Forest brought new energy and innovation to the family business while continuing the traditions and values his grandmother built the company upon.
Forest’s entrepreneurial spirit began early— launching his first business, West Austin Shaved-Ice, at just 15 years old. His dedication to customer service and integrity laid the foundation for his future leadership at Hill Country Pools.
Present Day
By 2016, Forest had reinvested his business earnings into Hill Country Pools, becoming a part owner and working closely alongside his grandmother. Two years later, in 2018, he became the sole owner, carrying forward her legacy of exceptional pool service and professionalism.
Today, Hill Country Pools stands as a leader in pool cleaning, maintenance, and equipment repair throughout Austin and the surrounding areas. The company’s core values—Quality, Integrity, Honesty, and Respect, —remain the foundation of everything they do.
With over 100 years of combined industry experience, Hill Country Pools continues to provide unmatched expertise in pool service and repair. The team’s ongoing training and commitment to excellence ensure every customer receives reliable, knowledgeable, and friendly service—year after year.

In 2022, Forest expanded the business with the creation of sister company, Hill Country Pools Construction, specializing in new pool builds, renovations, replasters and major repairs. As a certified Genesis Pool Builder, Forest combines technical skill with a deep understanding of Austin’s unique clay soil and all pool systems. His approach emphasizes both beauty and long-term performance, ensuring every pool is designed for minimal maintenance and maximum enjoyment.
