Pool Equipment Repair FAQs

Why is my pool water cloudy?

The pipes leading to or from your equipment may have a crack or tiny hole.  You may have an O-ring that has aged out or that is not properly seated, a bad pump seal, or your filter or pump may have a tiny crack.

High filter pressure is usually caused by a filter, cartridge, or grids that need to be cleaned or replaced.  Also, if the pressure stays high after backwashing, the return valves could be partially or totally closed.

A clogged skimmer basket, pump, pump impeller, or suction line could cause low filter pressure.

Typically, the filter should be backwashed at least once a month.  If the pressure is ten pounds greater than normal after you backwash, this is a good indication that it is time for a sand change or grid/cartridge cleaning.
